Studio Policy 2026 - English

MY RESPONSIBILITIES

I will teach students the language of music in a positive and enthusiastic environment. It is my goal to empower each student to influence their music education with input based on their interest and long-term goals. I will tailor the curriculum to match each student's specific learning needs.

STUDENT & FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES

Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with their assignment books and/or music. A piano will be provided in the studio for piano lessons. To make good progress, daily quality practice is necessary. Please ask questions about home assignments so that the student and parents can completely understand the assignments and goals.

Parents: If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child please let me know. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.

MUSIC & MATERIALS

I will assign and hand out the required music and materials for lessons.

Students must have their own instrument to practice at home. If you have questions or would like input on the purchase of an instrument please let me know. I am happy to set appointments to meet the student and their family for instrument trials and make specific recommendations.

TUITION & SCHEDULE

The flat monthly tuition rates are based on the number of guaranteed lessons in the calendar year and do not vary based on the number of lessons scheduled per month. There will be a minimum of 38 lessons offered throughout the year, and the weeks where lessons are not held (due to holidays, personal performance opportunities, teacher illness, etc.) will be communicated in advance when possible.

Two additional lessons will be built into the calendar, for a total of 40 lessons during the year. In the case of teacher illness, these two additional lessons can be cancelled at short notice. These weeks are complimentary in the case that no illness cancellations occur.

All payments are non-refundable. After the first payment, invoices will be sent by the 15th of the month for all enrolled students. Invoices are due on the 1st of each month. Payment method is bank transfer.

In the event of non-appearance or late payment, a late fee of SEK 60 is charged.

Repeated late payments may result in the student's enrollment being terminated.

In order to cancel tuition, written notification must be received via email no later than the 15th of the month. In the event that this deadline is not met, tuition will still be due on the first of the next month. Students will be able to attend all paid classes that month. The tuition is then cancelled the following month. Tuition fees are non-refundable.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Lessons cancelled with at least 24 hours' notice will be credited with a make-up lesson.

Lessons cancelled with under 24 hours' notice will not be eligible for a make-up lesson.

Make-up lessons cannot be exchanged for a discount on the next month’s tuition. With notice, up to 2 make-up lessons can be guaranteed each term (January-June, July-August, September-December), subject to availability. Make-up lessons must be used within 30 days.

Teacher cancellations will be given as much notice as possible. Cancelled lessons will be rescheduled within 30 days if they are within the guaranteed 38 annual lessons.

ONLINE MAKE-UP LESSONS

In the case of mild teacher illness, severe weather, or other scheduling conflicts, lessons may be held online instead of being cancelled. When online lessons are offered, in-person make-up lessons will not be offered. If the student opts out of the online lesson, that lesson and tuition will be forfeited. Tuition is non-refundable.

ONLINE LESSONS

Attendance, cancellation, and make-up lesson policies apply to all online lessons. Make-up lessons or extensions to the reserved lesson time cannot be guaranteed in the case of student technical difficulties. It is strongly recommended that students have a backup device available when possible. External microphones and headphones are preferred for optimal sound quality.

COMMITMENT

When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire term. Changes to weekly schedules may be made on a case-by-case basis each month before tuition is due.

Spring Term - January through June

Summer Term - July through August

Autumn Term - September through December

PHOTO AND VIDEO RELEASE FORM.

From time to time I use photos and short videos of my students around the studio, on the studio website, or in social media posts. If you do not want your or your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. The students are identified only by first name and efforts are made to not show students’ faces in videos and posts.

By enrolling and paying tuition for my child or myself in Madelene Joelsson’s studio - Claviastra,

I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for 2026.
